In May 2004 Teleglobe one of the world’s
leading wholesale providers of international
telecommunications services, acquired Voice
over IP (VoIP) network leader ITXC Corp. ITXC,
one of the world's leading carriers based on
minutes of international traffic carried,
operated the world’s largest Internet-based
voice network. As a carriers' carrier, ITXC
served all major carriers in the U.S.; many
incumbent carriers worldwide including China
Telecom, PLDT, Telkom South Africa, Telecom
Colombia, Telenor, Telia, and VSNL; and
emerging and competitive carriers including
Intelig in Brazil, Vietel in Vietnam and Data
Access in India. ITXC also served a growing
number of mobile carriers including China
Mobile and Smart Communications, leading
mobile carriers in their respective markets.
As the telecommunications business undergoes a period
of change, Telia, the largest provider of Internet and
communication services in Scandinavia, has sustained its
revenue growth through the introduction of popular fixed-line
services such as automatic messaging, 900 numbers and
number portability. Telia has worked closely with Intec Telecom
Systems to develop advanced mediation capabilities, based on
Intec’s Inter-mediatE technology, that support its growing and
changing business needs in an era of IP-based communications.
